Whether it is a solid stone building or fortresses with oriental decorative charm, castles represent our relationship with the past, they are places with written history and the birth of many legends. Of course, there are many beautiful castles in the world and often served as inspiration for childrenâ€™s stories because all have a special magic. Today those buildings became an attraction for tourists who can freely enjoy the awesome architecture.
The panoramic views on Bratislava city from the castleâ€™s area are magnificent. Interesting structure of the Bratislava Castle together with the old town definitely is the most memorable part of one ordinary journey.
Bratislava is a city that has existed for more than 2,000 years and has most significant symbol â€“ the Bratislava castle. Located on a hill-top above town, the castle existed since the Stone Age. Over the centuries, the building changed many forms typical of past periods. Bratislava castle was not built until the 10th century when the region came under Hungarian authority. It was turned into a Gothic structure in 1430, while in 1562 got Renaissance style.
The castle was rebuilt in 1649 in Baroque style. In 1811 the castle was burned in a fire and remained as a ruin until the 1950s when it was rebuilt again. Today it has the form of mid-20th century. Its structure is composed of 4 towers and a courtyard with an 80m. The interior contains fragments of old Gothic construction elements. If you want to see a furniture from 16th century, first walk the first floor where you can find the rooms of Slovak parliament â€” the National Council of the Slovak Republic. If you enter inside the castle, on the second floor you will notice the exhibitions of the Slovak National Museum. And also, not to forget the third floor â€“ the exhibition on the History of Slovakia. The area in front of the caste which is bounded with two triumphal gates is called Yard of Honor.
